Private instruction in Trochu

Learn stained glass one-on-one.

The Badlands Glassworks studio is small and private. That makes it a good place for one person to learn at a time, with Jon close by to demonstrate, answer questions, and help the work find its way forward.

A relaxed way to learn

There are no mistakes.

Pieces can be redone. Sometimes the parts that do not go exactly as planned add something to the finished work. The goal is to create something, learn the process, and enjoy the time spent making it.

Jon teaches primarily through demonstration, using his own projects to show how the work happens. Then the student takes over, learning with their own hands while Jon watches, answers questions, and gives guidance whenever it is needed.

What you can explore

Learn by working with your own hands.

  • Private, one-on-one instruction in Jon’s working studio
  • Demonstration followed by hands-on learning
  • Time to ask questions and work at a comfortable pace
  • An introduction to the stained-glass process

Who it is for

Come curious and willing to try.

Mentoring is for someone who wants to do something with their own hands and is comfortable learning alongside another person. You do not need to arrive knowing how to draw or how to work with glass. You only need to want to learn.

If something feels overwhelming, Jon can explain it, show it again, or step in when necessary. The studio is a place to ask questions and learn through the process.

From Jon

“I can demonstrate through my own projects, but the important part is letting you use your own hands.”
